When I returned from the jungle, I went to Llano Grande to meet my friend Enrique Pulupa and his family. After a few days of rest, we went to the beautiful coastal city of Puerto López. From there, about twenty minutes away by car, we visit Playa de los Frailes, a little piece of that paradise called Ecuador. When I got out of the van, I was surprised by a strong aroma that flooded everything. Seeing my surprised face, my friend exclaimed: “Tío Pedrito, have you ever seen the Palo Santo tree?”

Already on the sand, facing the sea, the smell of Palo Santo, coming from the small forest that hugged the beach, was so intoxicating that it was difficult for me to perceive the aroma of the sea…
